Wisdom Teeth Removal & IV Sedation at Beverly Hills Dentistry
Welcome
If you’ve been told you might need your wisdom teeth removed—or you’re simply in pain and not sure why—you’re in the right place. At Beverly Hills Dentistry, our in-house oral & maxillofacial surgeon provides gentle, modern care with IV sedation options for a calm, comfortable experience from consult to recovery.
Do you need your wisdom teeth removed?
Not everyone does. But removal is often recommended when third molars are:
- Impacted (stuck under the gums or bone)
- Partially erupted (hard to keep clean, prone to infection)
- Crowding or damaging nearby teeth
- Causing pain, swelling, cysts, or decay
Left untreated, problem wisdom teeth can lead to repeated infections, bone loss, or shifting teeth. The good news: today’s techniques make treatment precise and recovery smoother than ever.
What your visit looks like
- Expert evaluation – 3D imaging (when indicated) and a clear plan tailored to you.
- Comfort-first options – Local anesthesia, nitrous, or IV sedation for anxious patients or complex cases.
- Efficient procedure – Most visits are completed in about an hour.
- Recovery roadmap – Simple instructions, a check-in call, and fast access to our team if you need us.
Types of wisdom tooth removal (consumer-friendly)
- Simple extraction – For fully erupted wisdom teeth. Quick and conservative.
- Surgical extraction – For teeth under the gums or bone (impacted). A small opening allows precise removal.
- Soft-tissue vs. bony impaction – We’ll explain which you have and what that means for healing time.
Typical healing: 2–3 days of “take-it-easy,” with most swelling peaking at 48–72 hours and improving after. You’ll get a step-by-step recovery guide (ice, meds, diet, and how to keep the area clean).

IV Sedation for Anxiety
We get it – oral surgery can feel scary. IV sedation helps you relax deeply while we work efficiently. You’ll be carefully monitored the entire time and will need a responsible adult to drive you home. Ask us if IV sedation is right for you.
FAQs
Will it hurt?
You’ll be numb for the procedure. With IV sedation, most patients remember little to nothing. Discomfort afterward is typically managed with prescribed or over-the-counter medication and cold compresses.
How long is recovery?
Plan 2–3 easy days. Avoid heavy exercise and smoking, stick to soft foods, and follow our rinse routine. Most patients return to normal activities within a few days.
What about dry socket?
We’ll show you how to lower the risk (no straws, no smoking, gentle rinsing). If it happens, we’ll see you quickly for soothing treatment.
Can I remove all four at once?
Yes – often the most efficient route, especially with IV sedation.
Do you take my insurance or offer financing?
We’ll help you maximize benefits and review payment options at your consultation.
